ABOUT BAM Community
Thank you for finding BAM Community Pty Ltd.
I am Lisa Ellem, the creator of BAM Community. My goal is to serve and support business' and community.
Having graduated from the University of Western Sydney (Nepean) in 1989 (the DARK AGES) I traveled to Alice Springs (Northern Territory). My experiences from these three years stretched my personal and professional learning. I learnt about nursing, leadership, community and my capability. Indigenous health and education have always been personal and professional areas of interest.
After leaving Alice Springs I traveled to Asia, Europe and through the Middle East. I worked in Health in London in addition to a number of non-nursing roles.
Upon returning to Australia I moved to the Gold Coast where I studied Naturopathy and worked at the Casino as the staff nurse. In this role I operated as a sole practitioner within a team responsible for managing the holistic health care of the 3000 staff and emergencies involving casino patrons. We undertook pre-employment checks, return to work planning, first aid management, anti-natal care, health and well-being education.
I was free and enjoyed travel so I returned to the UK and worked for a further 12 months in Aged Care and Community Care. Back in Australia by 1996, I worked in rural NSW. I was in charge of the clinical care in the hospital and nursing home during my shifts. This was an extremely busy and rewarding position.
I moved to Western Australia and took up a position in the medical ward at a busy teaching hospital. I had an opportunity to complete my Certificate in Nephrology Nursing and was promoted to Clinical Nurse working in the medical ward, the Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis Unit.
Motherhood then transformed me. After having my children I completed a Bachelor of Education from Griffith University. I started teaching the year my eldest child started kindergarten. Teaching has always been a personal passion. I was drawn to teaching in nursing through primary health values and my leadership roles.
I taught Primary School for a number of years before returning to nursing at the local hospital. I secured a part time position of Nurse Educator at a local Aged Care Facility in 2010. At this time I also commenced teaching Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN). This was my introduction to the Vocational Education and Training Sector.
From the beginning, I loved VET. I enjoyed teaching AGED CARE, INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT, AGEING SUPPORT and FIRST AID in the VET environment. I love the challenge of working with adult learners in the classroom as opposed to just in the workplace. I have designed innovative and engaging training and assessment materials for a number of Registered Training Organisations. I enjoy customising learning materials that meet the needs of the trainer, the learner and the business.
I have managed a successful RTO for over four years. I have completed my Masters in Adult Education (VET) and VET qualifications in leadership and business. I have built sustainable programs that see VET Sector business' grow.
I am passionate about working with professionals whose business' support community.
