Mindful Self-Care: Becoming independent of the good opinion of others
Wayne Dyer use to say that the secret to success is to become independent of the good opinion of others. There are people we love and we want approval from, but sometimes we are not wise enough just yet to discover that they don’t truly know us. It’s not another’s job to know us. That is your job.
How do you become independent of the good opinion of others?
Start by becoming wholeheartedly, mindfully aware. Mindful self-care aware requires maintaining focus on oneself, within the present moment. Mindful self-care develops from valuing yourself in the here and now, appreciating your gifts, learn your lessons and celebrate your blessings. Mindful self-care means you learn to not worry about what others think. Be considerate of the person you are, be the authentic you. Your power becomes more powerful when it comes from the authentic you.
What you do everyday matters more than what you do once in a while. Gretchen Rubin
This time of year, is particularly challenging for many. In Australia, the temperature is getting hot. The weather is changing. Businesses are organising end of year work. Schools are organising end of year performance, reports, and clean ups. We all begin preparing for the new year – plans, budgets, holidays. Many are preparing for family, holidays and Christmas. It is a busy time.
It is an ideal time to stop. When life is busy we gain by stopping. We are gaining time, peace and plans by letting go, for a short while. Stop, recharge, think. Mindfulness means showing yourself love through being present. When we are present we can best serve ourselves and others. Mindful self-care builds you up by empowering a sense of calm and wellbeing. Mindful self-care is about being happy in the moment. Mindful self-care is essential to wellbeing.
Leo Tolstoy says that if you want to be happy, be.
This phrase is challenging. The responsibility for our own happiness is dependent on the thoughts we allow. Leo Tolstoy is talking about the conversations we have within our own head. The thoughts you have can from you, they should be thoughts independent others. Our thoughts are our own independent opinion. The become a belief. Beliefs can become knowing’s. So be gentle with your thoughts
Life is a challenge. Life is learning. Courage is acknowledging our authenticity – independent of the thoughts and opinions of others, including those people we love and admire.
By developing a mindset that support you in the here and now, we create an authentic belief. You are being true to you. Mindful self-care begins with being present with your perfectly imperfect self. That is a Brene Brown phrase. Brene Brown talks about being a recovering perfectionist. Mindful self-care means we become deliberate in our thoughts and be inspired by them.
Mindful Self Care is an essential tool to live an inspired, authentic and meaningful life. Mindful Self-Care will benefit you and those you care for. It is essential for happiness. It takes courage. It takes practice.
Courage is contagious. Every time we choose courage, we make everyone around us a little better, and the world a little braver … Brene Brown.
Be courageous. Be brave. Be present in the present moment. Mindful self-care needs to be practiced because as Robert Kirosaki says, “practice makes perfect”. Practice mindful self-care.
